The Misadventures of a Restless Photographer.
About the Blog
I haven’t always done things the best way, but I always learn from my experiences, and the same holds true every time I travel. My stories often seem to involve some sort of incident or problem, but every one that I choose to share is worth writing about. After all, aren’t most good stories full of mistakes? Or is it just comedies? Either way, I hope that Tracie Travels is both entertaining and informative.
My travel photography is usually highlighted in every post. Visual inspiration is important to me, and I hope that my photography does each destination justice.
While the blog is often story and photography focused, I also want to share what tips I can with those who are inspired to travel where I’ve been. I often look for natural beauty everywhere I travel, but I also want to find and document the fun and unique attractions of a destination whenever possible. I want to share my advice for those seeking the kind of travel that I do. I want to give suggestions for adventurous travel, spontaneous travel, and independent travel, because I tend to travel in at least one of those ways every time. Finally, I want to share what lessons I can about photography in general, for those who are interested in pursuing it.
Me, Myself, and I
I am a world traveler and adventure seeker. My twenties were spent fulfilling my wanderlust – swimming with dolphins, spending the night in the Sahara Desert, relaxing in the Blue Lagoon, exploring Egyptian pyramids, and snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef. I even once showered with a spider the size of my hand! During my travels I saw a great many interesting things and luckily my camera was always close at hand. It was during these adventures that I discovered my passion for documenting the natural beauty and curious happenings around me.
Sharing this blog with you is also a way to keep me accountable for my ideals – shooting often and traveling as much as possible, both locally and abroad. I will write about my past and current adventures, when I’m able to have them. While my goal is to keep traveling more and more, Seattle is my home base. Here I am a portrait and wedding photographer, and I continue to seek out nearby photographic opportunities as a sort of photo therapy when I am at home. Of course, the Pacific Northwest is full of local travel destinations and adventures
I should also mention that in addition to Tracie Travels, I used to run another blog, www.jenandtraciego.com. Jen and Tracie Go was a combined effort with my friend Jen, looking at offbeat destinations around the world and the lesser known things to see and do in the Pacific Northwest. It went offline, but I occasionally re-post that great content here on this blog as a way to keep it! For those posts, simply find the Jen and Tracie Go category or click here. If you’d like to check out my wedding (and elopement!) and portrait photography, that can be found here: www.traciehowe.com
